Made up of optional sessions and support based on what you want and need, Steps Into is your flexible course designed to fit around any work, training, or general life commitments that may be holding you back.
Every other week we run a 2-hour introduction (access) session where your journey will start and from this point you can learn about the support and options available which include:

Dedicated 1:1 help and encourage you in your search for jobs, help you to apply and then then support you to be interview ready.

Join our flexible 'Steps Into' programme to gain support in CV writing, interview techniques and join sessions on Confidentiality, Safeguarding, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and much more. Finish the programme with mock interviews and an introduction to South Central Ambulance Service.

Two GCSEs/equivalent at grade 4/C or above including English (or Functional Skills Level 2), or equivalent experience in a similar role (experience will certainly be considered if you don't have these qualifications)

As an Emergency Care Assistant (ECA), you'll be working alongside a clinically qualified practitioner, responding to 999 calls and attending every kind of accident and emergency. Sometimes covering considerable distances, under normal and emergency driving conditions, to get to the scene as quickly and as safely as possible. No two shifts will be the same.
Ambulance Care Assistants (ACA) convey a range of people to/from outpatient clinics, renal dialysis, admissions and discharges following inpatient treatments. You often see the same people on a regular basis and really get to know them. Some of your passengers will be anxious about their hospital visit and others may lead isolated lives. They will value your reassuring manner and the chance to chat.
ECA - £21,730 to £23,177 plus additional shift allowances
ACA - £20,270 to £21,318 plus additional shift allowances

During our three-day programme, we'll give you free support with your application, interview skills, introduce you to South Central Ambulance Service and can later fund your C1 Practical Licence.

East Sussex, West Sussex and Surrey – Ambulance Care Assistants only
You must hold a full UK manual driving licence with no more than three penalty points
